The bike park is closed to bikers over Easter weekend. Due to Skyline Gondola itself being a major tourist attraction itself it is too busy to facilitate bikers and every day normal tourists.

There was a volunteer patrol system in place last summer for the trial season. Unfortunately as great as it was there many detractors with the system. People not showing up for their shifts being one of them. It was seen for this summer that it would be better to leave it unpatrolled and use the emergency services as well as having many quality qualified first aid people amongst the Skyline staff that responses would still be done quickly as well as supplying great medical aid when needed. I think as the Park grows in popularity it will have to be something to be looked at again. For many of us who have been riding the hill in the years before the Park it is just the same as having pushed up. Just now we have a gondola for our ride. Ride at your own risk.

@ dirtbagluvin That would be where AM machines have come into play. There are far better and efficient pedaling platforms out there which enables bikes to behave like they have more suspension travel than they actually do. I own a DiamondBack Mission and it does feel "bottomless". I also own a Demo and would never use it to pedal out for 2 hours looking for fun. Horse's for cause's kind of deal for me.

No not all Freeride bikes look like shit. Giant Faith looks good as well as Transition TR 250,Transition BottleRocket,Santa Cruz Nomad,Commencal AM,Intense SS.... the list goes on. Ellsworth are still sticking with their one design which somehow keeps them in business. Their bikes are not astheticially pleasing to the eyes. No this isn't the most important thing when it comes to bike design but it helps to sell them. For something that weighs 34 pounds I would expect a heavyish all mountain machine that can pedal up and out to where ever as well as handle the downs. Yes it says you can chuck on 2 rings at the front but seriously would YOU want to pedal a 34 pound 180mm travel tank up any seriously looking hill climb? Those days have been and gone. Time to move on and enjoy what technology is throwing at us. For me 180mm screams bike park. Not pedal me up a hill.

Given that all of the World Cup races have been shown for free and freecaster.tv probably ran at loss this season despite getting money from teams and sponsors I don't think so. From what I can figure out there is an amazing amount of camera cable running all over the hill so I think we should see an amazing amount of footage from race runs. Nothing like watching the Worlds unfold live. So much excitement and build up especially with Warner at the helm!!
